This Is What Happens When a Filmmaker Goes Beyond a Client’s Vision

Every strong corporate film starts with a goal. But the films that truly make an impact—internally, publicly, or on a global stage, happen when a filmmaker goes beyond what’s asked and uncovers the story behind the mission. That’s exactly what unfolded during my collaboration with NBCUniversal and their AV & UCC Team.

This project wasn’t just another production. It became a perfect example of what can happen when a client’s trust meets a filmmaker’s dedication to storytelling. And the result? NBCUniversal won the Global AV Award for Best End User Team at the AV Awards 2025 in London, UK. I was honored to witness their win in person and even more honored to have helped craft the film that supported their submission.

Where the Story Began

NBCUniversal approached me with a clear objective: create a film that demonstrated why their AV & UCC Team deserved recognition as the best in their category. They had the accomplishments. They had the results. What they needed was a story that brought everything together in a way that felt authentic and compelling. This is where I leaned into the idea behind this blog’s title: This is what happens when a filmmaker goes beyond a client's vision.

My job wasn’t just to document their work, it was to understand the team, uncover what made them exceptional, and translate that into a film that would stand out among global competitors.

Crafting the Narrative

Over several weeks of pre-production, I worked closely with the team to shape a narrative that highlighted not only what they achieved, but how they achieved it. The innovation. The collaboration. The people behind the technology.

In June, I traveled to New York City to film interviews and cinematic B-roll. Every shot, every conversation, and every detail was chosen to reinforce one message: this team doesn’t just support the company—they strengthen it.

This wasn’t just about creating a video. It was about creating confidence. It was about presenting their story with clarity, purpose, and emotion.

The Road to the Award

By July, the final film was submitted. In August, they became finalists. And on November 7th at Evolution London, everything came together: NBCUniversal was announced as the winner.

Watching their name appear on that screen reminded me why storytelling matters in corporate video production. A strong film doesn’t just inform—it elevates. It connects. It makes the message memorable.

What This Means for Future Clients

As a filmmaker, my work goes beyond pressing record. It’s about listening deeply, finding the heart of your message, and shaping a film that represents your team at its very best. Corporate clients don’t just need a video. They need clarity. They need direction. They need someone who can guide the story in a way that aligns with their goals and inspires their audience.

This project with NBCUniversal reinforced a belief I’ve carried throughout my career: When clients trust the creative process—and when I commit to going beyond the brief, the results can be extraordinary.

I’m grateful for the trust NBCUniversal placed in Piximpress to tell the story of their AV & UCC Team. And I look forward to helping more organizations bring their stories to life with purpose, creativity, and impact.
